ALP locates
The Alternative Locate Provider program lets you choose who completes your locates. CLI is a registered ALP with over 35 ALP-registered locators, existing ALP contracts on hand, and Alberta locating contracts since 2003.
The program
The Alternative Locate Provider program launched in Alberta in 2025 through Utility Safety Partners and the consortium. Instead of waiting in the general queue, you pick who does the work.
Any contractor can name a specific locate provider for the project.

Proven on fibre
CLI completed 1,962 ALP tickets on the High River and Strathmore fibre work in 2025, then carried the program into the Calgary fibre project in 2026 with 1,111 tickets completed by mid-June. One damage was recorded across the program, and CLI was absolved of liability by the utility owner.
