ALP questions

What Alberta contractors ask about the ALP route.

01What is the ALP program?

The Alternative Locate Provider program launched in Alberta in 2025 through Utility Safety Partners and the consortium. It lets any contractor choose a specific locate provider and pay for the locate when submitting a ticket.

02Why choose an ALP instead of the general queue?

You pick the provider, so the locate timing sits with a company you selected instead of a queue you cannot see. Prime contractors on Alberta fibre projects have used CLI this way since 2025.

03Are CLI's ALP locators certified?

Yes. Every ALP locator completes an 8-hour online course with a live instructor plus the required utility orientations. CLI has over 35 ALP-registered locators.

04Where does CLI provide ALP locates?

Across all of Alberta, from urban centres to remote areas. Call 1-866-892-6337 with the project address to confirm the routing.
